Important Notes Regarding Fabric

You would think that getting cloth in exactly the right colour would be easy these days. Well yes it is, if you can afford to buy a whole batch of that cloth in that colour.  Most of us though need to be more economical when it comes to buying fabric.

I source my fabrics locally, this often sees me trawling around my favourite cloth shops to find the best colour and fabric match to that suggested by my clients.  This can be a time consuming task, one which can often turn out to be fruitless.

My absolute favourite store specialises in end of line fabrics and warehouse clearances.  As you can imagine I find a lot of my special fabrics this way.  Sadly, this means that many of the outfits shown on this website can not be recreated down to the colour and fabric.  They are all available as a style of outfit however.

Another thing to bear in mind about fabric, is that just like everything else, it is a fashion item.  Some fabrics are only available at certain times of year, and colours that you could find six months ago, are nowhere to be seen today.

The same also goes for braids and other decorations.

I will always try my best to find exactly the colour and cloth that you want.  But there are limitations and some flexibility is always called for.

When describing a colour by email try to provide a common example of where the colour can be found, for example, "The same red that they paint post boxes" or "The blue that HP use on their Brown Sauce labels". Try to avoid using examples of colours that can only be found locally to you, such as "The same green as my front door" or "The same cream colour as my locally produced egg box"

You could always post a sample of your egg box to me when you send the cheque for your deposit, but please do not send me your front door as I already have two.

When engaging the services that I provide you are in safe hands, if you would like to call in person to discuss exactly what you want, then I will gladly make you an appointment for a consultation.

If you have any questions regarding fabric please email me at: info@gd-costumes.co.uk
